About the Event
The ever-increasing popularity of the Internet has made librarians' participation in cataloging online resources crucial. In this 2 hour live online class, we'll introduce the cataloging process and use lecture, demonstration, discussion and hands-on practice to teach descriptive cataloging of resources born digital. Resources discussed will be those born digital such as websites, pdfs and others. Tips on searching for records in OCLC, copy cataloging, choosing the right format and cataloging policy issues are also covered.
PREREQUISITES:
Basic knowledge of the MARC format and OCLC cataloging system. Familiarity with basic principles of cataloging, including chapters 1, 9, and 12 of AACR2.
