Describing the Future: RDA, Metadata, and Linked Data

In the morning session “Changes from AACR2 to RDA: a Comparison of Examples,” Adam Schiff provided a clear and detailed look at RDA and how it differs from AACR2, using side-by-side examples of elements in catalog records.  Adam’s slides are available from his web page, in both PowerPoint and PDF versions.

In the afternoon session, “Metadata Basics: Steps to Linked Data,” Karen Coyle took attendees through the basic steps of creating data that can play well on the Web, with hands-on exercises.  This session included a discussion on the future of library data and the new bibliographic framework.  Karen’s web page includes a list of links to many of her presentations.
