Speaker's Bio/Recent Trainings

Sara T. Behrman has published more than 35 articles, book reviews, and essays in national and regional publications, including American Libraries, Oregon Humanities, and School Library Journal. She has also taught in dozens of Oregon’s elementary schools as a paid “writer in residence”, and regularly presents workshops at literary events and writing festivals. Since 2000, Ms. Behrman has worked full-time as a technical writer, specializing in grant writing for nonprofit organizations. Her current creative writing projects include a middle-grade novel and several picture books for young children, and she belongs to a number of professional groups, such as the Society for Children’s Book Writers & Illustrators, Community of Writers, and the Oregon Literary Coalition. Ms. Behrman earned a B.A. in Comparative Literature from the University of Wisconsin-Madison; Certificate of Russian from Leningrad University; and a M.A. in Library Science from the University of Iowa.
