The Springfield Public Library and History Museum have functioned as a single department within the city for five years. The museum curator and library and museum director will talk about how these two entities were brought together, how it’s going so far (the good and the bad), the impact it’s had on the community, and our aspirations for the future. While libraries and museums often collaborate, SPLHM is a rarity. Our unique composition allows us to be stronger together: finding new ways to coordinate and share our services and collections with the public, creating opportunities for funding and resource sharing, and learning about our individual strengths along the way. Hear our story and learn how you can utilize our lessons learned in your own organizations.
