Poster Session – Archiving web-based local news and culture with Community Webs

Community Webs is a web archiving program for public libraries and cultural organizations to preserve contemporary local history and voices that are underrepresented in the historic record. Since 2017, this Internet Archive and Mellon Foundation-supported project has grown to 100+ members across 40 U.S. states and territories. Learn how Cedar Mill & Bethany Libraries, the first Community Webs member in Oregon, is working to make digital local news and community history more visible now and for the long term via the Archive-It platform, with connections to the Internet Archive and the Digital Public Library of America.
