OLA Feedback/Brainstorm Session

Speakers: Ericka Brunson-Rochette, Deschutes Public Library; Jeremy Skinner, Curry Public Library; Star Khan, Driftwood Public Library; LaRee Dominguez, Albany Public Library; Shirley Roberts, Oregon Library Association

Description

This session is an opportunity for attendees to provide feedback, ask questions, and workshop the future of OLA as an organization. There is no presentation associated with this session; OLA leadership is here to listen to your thoughts and ideas. Thank you for being an integral part of our library community!

Questions to present, obtain feedback on:

* What is your current impression/understanding of OLA’s purpose and its role in supporting Oregon libraries and library workers? Who do you feel OLA is “for” currently?

* What support, services, advocacy, or other actions would you like to be able to access or receive through OLA?

* If you have experience with other library organizations, national or state, what is something they provide that you think OLA should explore?

* Have you ever volunteered with an OLA unit? If so, what was your experience like/if no, what factors have influenced your decision or ability?

* Who and what do you see represented in OLA? Who and what is missing? Do you feel that OLA advocates for all libraries in Oregon?

* How easy is it for you to communicate with other libraries and library workers in Oregon? What tools, resources, platforms, etc. might make that easier for you? (e.g. listservs)

* What do you need from your state library association?

* Take a few moments to think about what a state library association rich in experience, perspectives, dialog, and opportunities would look like. What does that look like for you? How might we achieve it?
