“Story time has been a staple of the children’s library as long as there have been children’s services. But what about the children who can’t come to story time at the library? With limited professional staffing, outreach to child care sites usually can’t be done. Using the expertise of library staff to train volunteers in specific tasks-presenting age appropriate story time or delivering books to child care sites, providing the age appropriate books for providers to read to their babies, toddlers, and preschoolers- can expand the potential for library outreach and sharing the importance of early literacy skills.”
